The Committee to Elect
Patricia Terry is Deeply Saddened By the Loss
of our
Honorary Chairman, John Garner.
A true legend in his own time, John Garner
gave of his wisdom, his insights, and his
incredible sense of humor to many a fledgling
candidate. I once called him the patron
saint of Democrats in Skagit County (where
he lived) ; he smiled and corrected me, "not
just Skagit, ALL of Washington!"
Even in the darkest of times, John could be
relied upon for a warm handshake, a tall tale,
and a dash of colorful language to keep any
conversation lively. His love of family,
his faith in people, his love of democracy,
and his absolute devotion to the principles
of social justice as embodied by the Democratic
Party, make John a role model for a life well
lived.
My deepest sympathies go to his wife Nadine
and their extended family. It is hard
to image going the distance without him, but
now it is up to those of us who knew him and
were inspired by him to continue the work
he loved; Politics in all its glory. Rest
well, my dear friend. I know it will
not be long until you are organizing the angels
for shorter work hours and better benefits.
